Calm down…shut up?
Prince Archie celebrated his birthday on Monday, but it appears his royal family didn’t get the memo.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son turned five years old, but his special day was not acknowledged on social media by any member of the royal family.
This caused some upset among fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but it turns out there is an explanation for the radio silence.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the protocol was changed to September 2022. Because King Charles is the country’s monarch, posts are limited to highlighting current members of the Windsor clan.
In keeping with royal tradition, Archie was not yelled at by any of his British relatives across the pond.
Similarly, “Suits” alumni also I have not received any public messages from the royal family. He celebrated his 42nd birthday in August last year.
The Sussexes stepped down from their senior roles in the family in 2020 and retired from royal life. This means they are no longer entitled to receive public messages from their relatives in the UK.
Still, Archie reportedly held a special low-key celebration at his home in Montecito, California, attended by his proud parents, sister Lilibet, and grandmother Doria Ragland.
Last year, Archie’s birthday coincided with his grandfather Charles’ coronation, which also took place on May 6th.
Prince Harry only attended a small part of the ceremony before rushing home with his son, but it appears Archie was at the forefront of the monarch’s mind that day.
Markle skipped the coronation entirely and remained in the US with Archie and their daughter Lilibet.
Prince Charles reportedly toasted his exiled grandson Prince Archie “wherever he is” to celebrate his fourth birthday.
Earlier in the day, at a historic ceremony, Prince Harry was suitably low-key and mostly out of sight during coronation events.
He sat in the third row of Westminster Abbey with distant relatives, but was never seen interacting with his father or siblings until he flew back to the United States.
The estranged royal family is preparing to return to the UK this week for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London.
Unfortunately for Prince Harry, however, there is no sign of any royals planning to attend the event, especially after Harry was forced to book a hotel room ahead of his short stay.
