Why Shaquille O’Neal told Jason Kelce ‘don’t be an idiot like me’ after retirement

Shaquille O’Neal gave Jason Kelce this wisdom: they hung out together recently: “Please don’t be an idiot like me.”

Page Six spoke to the NBA legend, 51, about his Philadelphia career at Shaxx Fun House, the annual Super Bowl party held at the XS Nightclub at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel on Friday night. We asked the Eagles center, 36, if he had any advice for sticking to his guns. Retirement planning.

“I just told him to enjoy his family,” O’Neill said.

“Don’t be an idiot like me. I made a lot of stupid mistakes and lost my family, so I just told him to enjoy his beautiful wife. [Kylie Kelce], enjoy his children and just be happy. ”

The former Los Angeles Lakers player was apparently referring to his failed marriage to ex-wife Shawnee O’Neal.

The former lovers were married from 2002 to 2011, the same year Shakir retired. They also have five children together.

In 2022, Shakir publicly blamed the divorce, revealing that he did not “keep his vows” during their marriage at the time.

“Sometimes when you’re living a double life, you get caught up in it,” he previously said on “The Pivot Podcast.”

“I’m not saying it was her. It was all me. … I was just being greedy. We had the perfect situation.”

Shaquille told Page Six that he and Jason really hit it off because they are family-oriented.

“Jason is a beautiful man. It shows that we are the same person,” said the Taylor Swift superfan.

“He respects his mother and father very much, and so do I. He is a family man. He is happy with his younger brother. [Travis Kelce]. they competed. they fought.It’s the same for me and Kobe. [Bryant] This is how we develop champions. ”

This week, Jason shared via his X account on his podcast “New Heights” with Travis that he enjoyed a meal with Shaquille, trolling Charles Barkley in the process.
