Why Trump supporters are calling Walz 'Tampon Tim'

Former President Trump’s campaign and supporters have attacked Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), calling him “Tampon Tim,” a reference to a bill Walz signed last year that requires public school bathrooms to provide free menstrual products.

of Minnesota LawThe law, which took effect on Jan. 1, requires that menstrual products like pads and tampons “must be available to all menstruating students in restrooms regularly used by students in grades 4 through 12, pursuant to a plan established by the school district.”

Republican state lawmakers opposed the bill at the time, but ultimately failed to amend it to apply only to women’s restrooms.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt denounced the law shortly after Harris announced she would join Walz as the Democratic presidential nominee.

“As women, I can think of nothing more threatening to our health than a leader who supports sex-reassignment surgery for minors or who supports putting tampons in boys’ bathrooms in public schools,” Leavitt said. Speaking on Fox News“These are radical policies that Tim Walz supports. He actually signed a bill to implement them.”

A major pro-Trump super PAC called Walz a “weird radical liberal” as part of a new campaign ad against the governor.

LGBTQ rights groups on Tuesday congratulated Harris on her decision and highlighted her support for equality.

Governor Walz issued an executive order last year establishing the North Star State as a safe haven for transgender minors seeking gender-affirming medical care, as well as a refuge for individuals seeking abortions, their physicians and families.

Conservative podcaster Liz Wheeler on Tuesday reposted an edited photo of Waltz’s face on a box of tampons with the words “Tampon Tim.” Write on X“He left tampons in the men’s room. How gross.”

Former presidential adviser Stephen Miller Expressed an opinion Regarding Waltz’s choice, he wrote to X on Tuesday, “She actually picked Tampon Tim.”
