Reports say her 62-year-old grandmother was killed when she was “coupled” overnight with her husband, a murderer convicted in a California prison.
David Brinson, 54, was convicted of murdering four men in 1993 and was sentenced to life in prison without parole, court records show.
In November, Brinson made an unsupervised visit with his wife Stephanie Dowells, 62, at Mule Creek State Jail in Northern California. Fox 40 It has been reported.
Brinson allegedly claimed the prison staff where she died, but the Amador County Coroner this week said her death was murder and determined she was strangled. No one has been charged with the murder, reported by KCRA-TV.

Fox News Digital has contacted the Amador County Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Amended Rehabilitation (CDCR).
“How could they make this happen? I don't understand that,” Dowells' son Armand Torres told KCRA-TV. “My mother was just left alone and she asked for help, I'm sure, and there's nothing she can do.
“Given the history this guy has, did we want to know how possible it is even possible for them to be unsupervised?”

The CDCR told KCRA: “Family visits are privileged and those who are incarcerated must apply and meet strict eligibility criteria to be approved. Only those who demonstrate sustainable good behavior and meet certain program requirements will be considered. These visits are designed to support positive family connections and successful rehabilitation.”

The prison's operational manual states that family visit prisoners must present themselves four times in 24 hours and can make unscheduled checks at any time, but according to the KCRA, “every effort must be made to ensure the privacy of the inmate and their visitors.”
