It’s unthinkable.
Researchers at the California Institute of Technology Revealed ‘significant’ achievements in technological advancement It can essentially read people’s minds.
For many years, the Caltech T&C Chen Brain Machine Interface Center has led the way with its namesake technology (BMI for short) to develop devices to assist patients with speech and non-speech disorders.
New research published by the center shows advances in brain-machine interfaces that read people’s thoughts and translate them into easy-to-understand words for everyone to see.
Signals read from the brain are “translated” and converted “into text in real time.”
“We captured the neural activity associated with internal speech, or words spoken in the mind without movement or sound output.” written by the team.
The researchers attached electrodes to a part of the brain’s supramarginal gyrus, a critical component for understanding and processing language, within the parietal lobe of two study participants.
They were then given a visual or audio prompt and asked to think of the word shown, such as spoon, python, or battlefield. According to the Daily Mail And after that the device was able to visualize what was drawn.
The researchers were able to decipher the two participants’ thoughts into words with 79% accuracy.

Researchers now believe that the supramarginal gyrus “may represent a much larger internal vocabulary” of the human mind.
Last year, another study at the University of Texas at Austin successfully used an AI-powered semantic decoder to accurately analyze human brain activity. This non-invasive procedure was performed through functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) readings.
The technology could be used by people who cannot speak, such as stroke patients, but scientists recognized that AI could fall into the wrong hands.
“We take very seriously the concerns that it could be used for nefarious purposes, and we have worked hard to avoid that,” said Texas lead researcher Jerry Tan.
“We want to make sure that people only use these kinds of technologies when they want to use them, and that they’re useful to people. It’s also very important that we regulate what these devices are used for. ”
