Theologian, author and founder of God of Want, John Piper addresses the question of how heaven doesn’t become “boring.” Recent Episodes From the “Pastor John” podcast.
Piper was working on a question from listener Mason. He shared that he had read the book Heaven by Christian writer Randy Alcorn. Faithwire It has been reported.
“After reading, I began to understand the joy of thousands, millions, and even billions of years,” Mason said. “But even a hundred trillion years still seem to be nothing in eternity. I have a hard time dealing with the endless things. Why don’t we get bored?”
In response, Piper said, “It is doubtful that forever we think of it as time without starting or finishing it, or that we think of it as a dimension or timeless, or that we don’t even know what “grab” means when it becomes something like that. ”
He also referenced Ecclesiastes 3:11“Even so, God has beautiful everything for his own time. He planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the entire scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”
As for the meaning of the poem, “God means that we recognize a kind of eternal time, or a non-time reality that we cannot fully understand.”
He also mentioned CS Lewis’ book, Just Christianityhe wrote,
“If I find myself a desire that my experience in this world cannot satisfy, the most likely explanation is that I was made for another world.”
Despite the mystery surrounding the afterlife, Piper tells Mason where biblical heaven is mentioned. for example, Revelation 21:18 New Jerusalem explains that “a city of pure gold as glass” is “a city of glass” that Christians experience the body revivalAs Paul states 1 Corinthians 15:42-44:
“We become embodied people, but still, unlike our current body, it becomes embodied to the point of understanding,” Piper says. “We will never run out of our ability to see glory, be amazed, refreshed, or be eternally excited.”
He added that the followers “will have it.” [bodies] Perfectly suited to eternal, supernatural and unimaginable joys – [bodies] You can definitely enjoy it more than you could have imagined. ”
