Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was chosen to be Trump's secretary of state, leaving his Senate seat vacant. Governor DeSantis is responsible for appointing his successor.
One name that has been floated as a potential candidate to fill Rubio's seat is Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
Today, Lala joined Liz Wheeler, host of “The Liz Wheeler Show,” to discuss the possibility.
“Is this going to happen? Do you want to be the next Florida State Senator?” Liz asked.
“Obviously, this is up to Governor Ron DeSantis and we'll see who he ultimately thinks is right for that seat, but look, they're obviously big jobs to fill. Marco Rubio. has held this Senate seat for a long time and he is truly trusted by the people of Florida,” Lara responded, praising DeSantis for turning Florida from a swing state to a solidly red state.
“So whether he wants to appoint me to this role, obviously that's his decision, but what I can say is: I am happy to serve as co-chair. “It was such an honor to be able to do the RNC,” she told Liz.
“It would be a real honor if I was asked to serve as the next senator from the state of Florida. I haven't been asked about it yet, so we'll see what happens, but it's something I definitely “It is something to consider,” she added.
“So if Governor DeSantis said, 'Do you want to be Florida's next senator?' you would say yes,” Liz asked.
“Yes,” she admitted.
