Will Seek Trump Impeachment if Elected Chair of House Oversight

Investigation Promised by Rep. Jasmine Crockett

Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has expressed intentions to launch an investigation into President Donald Trump should she become chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

The Democratic Caucus is preparing to elect new leading members following the recent resignations after the passing of Rep. Jerry Connolly (D-VA), who succumbed to esophageal cancer.

Crockett, now serving her second year in Congress, is vying for a prominent position on the committee, which Politico reported is experiencing a competitive race for leadership.

In communication with her fellow Democrats, Crockett noted, “Our country is in an existential crisis driven by non-controlling executives, ignoring our constitution, our way of governance, and our way of life as citizens of the Democratic Republic.”

She emphasized the importance of unveiling the chaotic environment created during the Trump administration, asserting that the findings need to be presented to the public in a clear and understandable manner.

In a recent interview with WFAA, just before announcing her candidacy, she highlighted how she could leverage her influence if the Democrats secure a majority in the next election cycle.

“I hope that once we reach the majority, we take significant actions. There’s much to consider regarding past events and whether to pursue them further,” she stated.

Responding to a direct inquiry about pursuing investigations, she confirmed, “I will at least make an absolute inquiry. There’s certainly enough cause to explore this.”

Crockett also mentioned concerns regarding the gifting of Boeing 747 jets to Trump as a temporary replacement for Air Force One, suggesting there are numerous issues she wants to investigate.

She now joins a competitive field of Democrats, including Stephen Lynch (D-MA), Robert Garcia (D-CA), and Kuwaiji Muhume (D-MD), who are also seeking the ranking member position.
