Hungary will take legal action to close local non-governmental organizations and media outlets that receive funding from US institutions and other international sources, Prime Minister Victor Orban said on Friday. He added that it was time to “eliminate these foreign networks.”
AP Report Orban, a consistent ally of President Donald Trump, said in a statement on the state's radio that his government is “line by line” through organizations operating in Hungary, which have received financial support from the US.
He praised Trump's decision to dismantle it. US Organization for International Development (USAID)claiming that such aid was being used to fund organizations seeking to “fall” his government.
“This is the moment when we have to defeat these international networks, and they have to be wiped out,” Orbán said. “We need to make their existence legally impossible.”
Orban further explained the move to dismantle US institutions like “cleansing style” that can work for organisations that receive USAID funds, such as Trump's “Cleaning Style” .
“All money coming from America should be made public, and those who receive it should be enacted against them,” Orban said.
“We cannot accept money from overseas to influence Hungarian politics. This will be legally enforced. Those involved will face legal consequences.”
As reported by Breitbart News, USAID staff were instructed to leave the agency's Washington headquarters on Monday.
The advice came via notifications distributed to career bureaucrats after Elon Musk announced that Trump had agreed to shut down the agency.
