William Shatner calls on Trump and Elon Musk: Restore Pluto’s greatness

William Shatner, the iconic actor, expressed hope that former President Trump might restore the wealthy to their former glory, coinciding with claims from scientists about a “new” ninth planet.

Shatner, 94, known for his role as Captain Kirk in “Star Trek,” raised a question about the possible discovery of a tenth planet in our solar system, sharing his thoughts on social media.

He suggested that Trump could name this newly proposed planet, stating that restoring Pluto’s status is necessary to counter what he describes as the universe’s “tyranny.”

In a curious twist, he even mentioned recruiting fans of the platform X, where Elon Musk suggested having the President formally acknowledge Pluto as a planet once more.

Shatner insisted on the need for Trump to take action, asking Musk to facilitate some sort of executive order to officially reinstate Pluto’s planetary designation.

Despite some skepticism about whether a President has the authority over celestial matters, Shatner argued that Trump’s influence might extend beyond earthly borders.

The discussion erupted partly due to a new study proposing a distant object that some believe could be regarded as the solar system’s ninth planet.

Shatner criticized the International Astronomical Union, whom he blamed for what he sees as an overreach of power and said they lack legitimate authority.

He provocatively questioned the necessity of this “union,” suggesting it holds little weight in the grand scheme of things.

Pluto, which was originally discovered in 1930 by Clyde W. Tombaugh in Arizona, has been at the center of this debate for years.

Shatner’s own experiences with space exploration extend beyond his fictional voyages. He recalled his 2021 journey with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, describing the transition from the comfort of the blue skies to the vast nothingness of space.
