Pericardo won the first set 6-4 from Musetti. Pericard read a line call well (ruled out by the umpire) to set up two set points, the first of which was a miscue, but the second was indisputable, with a powerful serve getting the job done.

Pericardo’s serve was strong and he overpowered Musetti to take a 5-3 lead. The 20-year-old has a lot of potential. Musetti holds the next serve but will have to face it to stay in the set.
