Winona Ryder has worked alongside many of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Keanu Reeves, Adam Sandler and Christian Bale, all of whom have played the actress's love interests.
However, one leading actress previously rejected the idea of an on-screen romance with Ryder, citing his age.
Ryder, who has been acting since he was a teenager, was asked if he remembered auditioning for movies he was rumored to be starring in over the years, including the Tom Cruise blockbuster “Jerry Maguire,” the 1999 classic “Fight Club” and the Coen brothers' film “The Hudsucker Proxy.”

Ryder could remember the latter, a 1990s screwball comedy that eventually starred Tim Robbins and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
“I auditioned a few times,” Ryder recalls.Happy Sad ConfusedPodcast with Josh Horowitz.
“I [the Coen brothers] Really. Of course, I adore the Coen brothers, just like everyone else.”

“I remember because I also auditioned for 'Fearless' with Jeff Bridges. I remember that audition too. I think it was around the same time. Jeff Bridges, who I love, wouldn't kiss me because I was too young.”
The film was released in 1994, so Ryder was probably around 21 years old and Bridges around 43 at the time of their auditions.
“At the end of the scene, he was supposed to kiss me,” Ryder said.
According to Star, Bridges told her, “'You're the same age as my daughter.'”
“And I was like, 'Nooo,'” she recalled.

“Jeff Bridges, who I love, wouldn't kiss me because I was too young.”
Ryder ended up not being cast in the film, but she later returned to audition for the Coen brothers and finalize her story.
“The last callback is when I[The] “While filming The Age of Innocence, I had to leave the set wearing a corset,” she recalled.
Ryder explained that she arrived late, still in costume, felt “super disoriented” and “totally botched” the audition.

Ryder's next film, “Beetlejuice,” hits theaters this Friday, and she stars in the final season of Netflix's “Stranger Things,” which premieres next year.
