On Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) addressed the allegations against Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan for purportedly aiding illegal immigrants in evading immigration and customs enforcement (ICE).
California lawmakers appeared skeptical about Dugan’s prospects.
“I wanted to hear your thoughts on these judges,” host Maria Bartiromo said. “The judge from Wisconsin has been accused of assisting an illegal immigrant in hiding from ICE in her courtroom. Prosecutors contend that there isn’t enough evidence to charge her. Dugan’s attorney claims that her actions are within her ‘constitutional authority,’ referencing a recent Supreme Court ruling regarding presidential immunity. This comes shortly after a federal judge who supports tough immigration measures under the Foreign Enemy Act raised similar questions this week. What do you think about Dugan?”
Issa responded, “Honestly, I think the judge might have to stretch her reasoning a bit more to make sense of it. It’s kind of like when Senator Bob Menendez claims he’s merely negotiating with Egypt while handing over a bar of gold. Truthfully, her actions could lead to serious consequences. We’re going to address this.”
