A Wisconsin woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly broke into a home and pretended to know the occupants.
The suspect, Joanna Kelly Lee, was charged with theft and trespassing, according to Madison police. She was arrested Tuesday around 10:40 p.m.
Police said they discovered the incident at about 10.30pm when the homeowner returned home and saw someone inside.
The Madison Police Department told Fox News Digital that the victim “had been out for most of the day and was surprised to see all the lights on.”

“Police arrived on scene and observed through a window a woman casually walking around the residence,” the police statement said. “The woman, later identified as Joanna K. Lee, responded to police commands and came to the front door.”
Authorities said Lee “calmly told” police he was allowed into the home and even listed the residents by name.
“Lee detailed how he had previously met the resident at a coffee shop and been given a key to the house,” police said. “Lee had been in the house long enough to cook himself a dinner of shrimp and pasta.

“However, the resident claimed she had never met Mr Lee and that he was not allowed to come to her home and eat her food.”
Authorities later determined that the suspect had been going through residents' mail to find names and then fabricating the story. The suspect was quickly arrested and is currently being held in the Dane County Jail.
