Witnesses recount the terror caused by a fire in Switzerland

Witnesses have shared their chilling experiences following a tragic fire that erupted at a bar in Switzerland, claiming the lives of many and injuring several others.

An 18-year-old man recounted his frantic efforts to save those trapped inside, stating he thought his brother was among them. “I tried to break the window to help people get out, then I went inside,” he recalled. “I saw people on fire… I saw people on fire from head to toe and they didn’t have any clothes on anymore. It was very shocking.” Fortunately, his brother was unharmed.

“I visited the bar every day this week, and on the days I didn’t go, it was on fire,” he mentioned, reflecting on the events.

Another witness, Daniella, was returning home with her husband after dinner when she experienced the chaos firsthand. “People were running in all directions, screaming and crying. I saw several people being carried away on stretchers. One young man came up to me and said he had seen hell. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that. And I froze,” she recounted.

Gianni Campolo, 19, after receiving a call from a friend who escaped, went to the bar to assist emergency workers. He described the scene as horrific, stating, “I’ve seen horror, but what could be worse than this?”

Ferdinand du Bordies, also 19, returned to the bar looking for loved ones. “I couldn’t imagine letting them stay in the fire when they were alive outside,” he expressed. Upon his return, he discovered a body lying on the steps, severely burned, unsure of its identity.

After re-entering the building, he found visibility poor due to the thick smoke. “I couldn’t breathe, so I just left,” he explained. Eventually, he managed to find his girlfriend, who informed him about his brother’s whereabouts.
