WNBA All-Star ticket prices drop 48.4% as Caitlin Clark is sidelined with an injury

Ticket prices for the WNBA All-Star Game took a sudden dip after the announcement that Kate Linklark would be sidelined due to a groin injury.

This season marks her second as an All-Star team captain, leading Team Clark on the home floor at Gainbridge Field House in Indianapolis.

Before the announcement, the lowest ticket price on TickPick was $126, while the average resale price reached $262, which is a record for the league.

After Clark’s injury news broke, the cheapest ticket price had fallen to $65—a decrease of nearly 50%.

On Thursday, Clark revealed she would not take part in the All-Star Game or its accompanying festival, citing a worsening groin injury sustained earlier in the season. She expressed her disappointment, saying, “I’m really looking forward to being hosted by Indy for the WNBA All-Stars this weekend. I truly appreciate the effort of the Indianapolis Host Committee and everyone who has worked hard to bring this event to life.”

Her future with the All-Star Game seems uncertain, as the team is prioritizing her long-term health.

Clark mentioned that she felt “incredibly sad and disappointed” about missing out on the All-Star events, including the three-point contest. Yet, she remained optimistic about supporting her team from the sidelines: “I’m still at Gainbridge Field House for all the action. I look forward to helping coach the team.”

In her last game, Clark appeared to tweak her injury towards the end of a win against Connecticut Sun, although details of her condition remain unclear.

Injury woes have been a significant part of Clark’s season—she missed nearly 12 games but still led the fan voting for the All-Star Game. Just how long she’ll be out is still uncertain.
