Suspension of WNBA Game Due to Object Thrown on Court

During a WNBA matchup between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday night, the game was unexpectedly suspended. This incident occurred late in the fourth quarter when a peculiar object was hurled onto the court.

The Valkyries were still engaged in the game when, out of nowhere, the object—what appeared to be a lime green sex toy—landed on the floor. Initially, it bounced off a player handling the ball before making its way to the sideline.

Commentators and spectators were taken aback, particularly because the object was not immediately identified. One commentator, seemingly shocked, remarked, “It’s inappropriate. Get out of here, anyone.” The officials did not halt play right away; the game continued until a player from Golden State pointed out that the ball was out of bounds.

Eventually, police arrived to retrieve the adult toy and clear the court.

Despite the disruption, Golden State managed to win the game 77-75, even though they only scored eight points in the fourth quarter. Cecilia Zandarasini stood out with 18 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, while Tiffany Hayes contributed 15 points as a starter.

After the game, Zandarasini and Hayes shared their thoughts on the unusual situation. “Once we figured out what it was, we just started laughing. I’ve never seen anything like that,” Zandarasini said.

On the other hand, Atlanta Dream guard Jordan Canada topped the scoring charts with 21 points and added eight assists to her performance.
