Jason Whitlock has defended basketball superstar Kaitlyn Clark through all of the controversy she’s been embroiled in during her time at the University of Iowa, and while he’s not a huge fan of the WNBA, he continues to defend Clark as she navigates the highly political terrain that is women’s professional basketball.
“The WNBA has a problem with the box office. They want everyone’s attention to be on the box office. Score “Because the people who make the box office – the people who bring in the audience, sell the tickets, drive the TV ratings – are hated,” he told Steve Kim.
“Kaitlyn Clark is a box office draw. The WNBA is suffering from a box office deficiency. Kaitlyn Clark is clearly the most valuable player in WNBA history,” Jason concluded, adding that she should clearly win Rookie of the Year.
But the WNBA’s preference for box scores (and likely certain political factors) led to the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese being promoted above Clark.

“Angel Reese is making history! She’s recorded a double-double in 10 consecutive games. That’s a new record,” Jason said, mocking the WNBA for all the attention it’s getting for Reese.
“Who has the record in the NBA too?” he continued, noting that “nobody cares” about the double-double stat, adding, “It’s a distinction, do not have record.”
According to Steve, it’s pretty clear what’s going on here: [Caitlin Clark] You won’t get that award.”
“They’ll give it a try,” Jason agrees, but, “Indiana will win five to eight more games than the Chicago Sky. That’s going to be tough to overcome.”
And more importantly, “the WNBA needs one thing: box office revenue.”
“Only the numbers matter [are the] Everywhere is full [and] The argument is that it will boost TV ratings, but the reality is that people want to see Caitlin Clark.
