Hall of Famer and current basketball analyst Rebecca Lobo has only watched Caitlin Clark play in the league for half a season and is convinced she’s already at the top of one of the game’s key fundamentals.

talk SiriusXM NBA RadioLobo believes the Indiana Fever’s No. 1 overall pick is “the best passer in the league.”

While Clark’s parking-lot three-pointers get all the attention, she has also demonstrated great court vision since her time at Iowa, and teammates and coaches have praised her for getting others involved on the court, which ultimately translates into success.

Heading into the WNBA All-Star/Olympic break, Clark is averaging 8.2 assists per game, besting the league, and coach Christy Sides believes the team is getting used to the way Clark moves the ball when she has it on offense.

But the Lobos were also asked about Clark’s turnovers, which are pretty high at 5.6 per game.

“She takes advantage of her opportunities, so there’s always going to be a little bit of turnovers, especially with those passes that give you the lead,” Lobo responded.

Caitlin Clark sets WNBA record with 19 assists in final game before All-Star extension and Olympic break

“She’s trying to thread the needle. Most of the time it works, but sometimes it doesn’t.”

Clark set the WNBA assist record with 19 assists in a single game last week despite the Fever’s loss to the Dallas Wings. That game was the final one before the hiatus, but Clark recorded double-digit assists in seven of her final nine games.

She then performed well in the WNBA All-Star Game, where she was the leading vote-getter and recorded a game-high 10 assists, just one shy of All-Star Game record holder, legend Sue Bird.

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese, who was considered Clark’s rival, was happy to be Clark’s teammate in the All-Star Game.

“It’s so cool,” Reese said in an interview with ABC. “When she gets the ball, I run to get the ball because I know she’s going to throw it to me.”

Still a rookie, Lobo knows Clark will limit turnovers and improve in other ways as she becomes more comfortable in the WNBA. Lobo has particularly highlighted her 3-point shooting.

“And the thing to note is that even though she’s still not making 3-pointers at the rate that she used to, she’s adapting,” Lobo explained.

Clark is struggling to make 32.7% of his 8.3 three-point attempts per game, but is shooting 40.5% overall from the field and averaging 19.6 points per game.

“She’s not taking as many logo bombs and she’s driving and finishing more,” Lobo added.

While he may not be as flashy as his phenomenal shooting from college, Clark still has moments where he wows his peers, especially when it comes to passing.
