Former WNBA star Renée Montgomery has slammed current star Kaitlyn Clark's fanbase, saying her most ardent supporters are sending death threats and racist comments to other players.

Montgomery initially claimed that Clark's online following was rife with “bots” and “fake fans,” and that he doubted Clark even watched his Indiana Fever basketball games.
“I'm talking about a specific group that is motivated by hatred and destruction.”
“Kaitlyn Clark fans have taken their own path. … This PSA does not apply to Kaitlyn's basketball fans right now,” she began.
“I'm talking about a specific group of people who are driven by hatred and destruction,” Montgomery said in the video. X“If that's not you, this isn't about you. … This doesn't seem to be about Kaitlyn and her fans … They're just ready to fight on social media.”
The owner tried to make a clear distinction between the average WNBA fan, which includes himself, and the group of fanatics who go out of their way to create offensive content.
“You don't like us and they don't like us, OK? So please don't misunderstand when I say 'hate-driven' to mean that regular, die-hard fans hate their team,” she continued.
“Die-hard Falcons fans may hate the Saints, but creating nude AI photos of Saints players and sending them to their families is a bit much, which is exactly what Kaitlynn's fans did to Angel Reese,” Montgomery argued. He also singled out Boston Celtics fans, saying their “racist treatment of players” was “definitely too much.”
Montgomery also said Clarke's fans have sent death threats to other players as well.
“That's not right!” she cried.
The former player expressed his opinion in a cheerful tone, but went on to criticise Clark's most ardent supporters.
“It's fine if our fans are passionate and diehard enough to hate other teams, but what are you doing using racist, sexist and violent language? It's unacceptable.”

Clark's fan account said He called Montgomery's comments “irresponsible” coming from a team owner.
“There's something sinister going on online among Caitlyn's fans,” Montgomery concluded.
She added that she thinks there is “a lot of racism” when it comes to Clark's fans, but doesn't think Clark stands for it.
