WNBA veteran is the newest player to experience an ACL tear.

Seattle Storm veteran Katie Lou Samuelson has been diagnosed with an ACL injury, as announced by the team on Saturday. The 27-year-old forward joined the Storm during the offseason after a stint with the Indiana Fever in 2024.

Throughout her five years in the league, Samuelson has played for several teams, including the Chicago Sky, Dallas Wings, Los Angeles Sparks, and the Fever. She has averaged 5.9 points and 2.5 assists, shooting 38.9%. Last season, her role was somewhat limited after returning from maternity leave, resulting in the lowest average minutes (18.2) and field goal percentage (34.9%) since her rookie year.

Seattle Storm announces former UConn women’s basketball star Katie Lou Samuelson suffers an ACL injury, missing out on WNBA season this summer.

Samuelson was anticipated to be a key player in the Storm’s veteran lineup, which includes notable names like Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins, Gabby Williams, Lexie Brown, Ezi Magbegor, Alysha Clark, and Erica Wheeler.

Unfortunately, she is now expected to miss the entirety of the 2025 WNBA season.
