Domestic box office revenue under That’s 24 percent compared to last year, and 42 percent (42 percent! LOL) compared to 2019, the last year before the pandemic.
Certainly Hollywood is in a panic, but Hollywood and its lame media Still lying They ask themselves (and us) why.
“We’re worried,” one studio source said. Said Far Left The Hollywood Reporter“People are not in the habit of going to the movies. [.]”
Yes, they are not in the habit of going to the movies because they find them boring.
What’s killing moviegoing is that movies are boring. Ever since Hollywood woke up, and it’s been five years now, more and more people are wisely quitting the “movie habit.”
Naturally, Hollywood and its media vassals refuse to acknowledge this. Instead of looking at this year’s flops and asking why they failed, they just go, Condemnation Last year’s strikes:
In the closing days of SAG-AFTRA talks, studio heads were accused of disingenuousness when they said the four-month strike put the 2024 release calendar in jeopardy with each passing day. Now the impact of that warning is becoming clear. After a harsh winter and spring, the box office is in tatters in early summer, with a string of traditional mainstays canceled, including a Marvel superhero movie opening the first weekend of May. According to ComScore, domestic box office revenues have reached $2.68 billion so far this year, down 24% from the same time last year and 42% from 2019, the last normal year before the COVID-19 crisis. In fact, every week this year has been down compared to 2023, with the smallest difference being 11%. Dune Part 2 and Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire It’s open.
The question now is whether theater can survive a post-pandemic world and the rise of streaming.
Box office observers agree that the ecosystem is extremely fragile, but remain hopeful that moviegoing will bounce back with blockbusters hitting theaters across the board in the coming weeks that will attract all audiences. Inside Out 2, Despicable Me and Deadpool and Wolverine Come out, then Beetlejuice Beetlejuice It’s due for release in early September, but we won’t see a steady stream of movies until 2025. It doesn’t help that many movies are being released later than expected (all eyes are on Bad Boys: Ride or Die“We’re worried,” said one studio source, “and it would be foolish not to think about it. People are not in the habit of going to the cinema and are sticking to reservations. It’s a big problem, but there’s no real trigger yet.”
Exclude…
There will be no shortage of superhero movies in 2024. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom It hit theaters eight days before the start of 2024. The original grossed $335 million domestically and $1.15 billion worldwide, while the sequel made about a third of those numbers.
Madame Web A superhero movie from 2024. It grossed $44 million at the domestic box office.
That means there are already two superhero movies coming out in 2024. So the problem isn’t a lack of superhero movies, it’s that those superhero movies are boring.
Half of the year has already passed, Godzilla Kong movie, Sand Dunes Sequel, Kung Fu Panda Sequel, Weirdo Ghost Butters Sequel, Planet of the Apes Sequel, Garfield Remake, and Mad Max Spin-offs. In just six months, we have seen the release of seven world-class IP titles and two superhero movies. So it’s clear that the issue isn’t a lack of product, wide release, or a lack of popular IP titles. The issue is…
The movie was so bad that normal people don’t go to the movies anymore because they wisely quit the habit of going to the movies after wasting so much time and money during five years of it being all gay and preachy and self-indulgent and left-wing propaganda only to be bored and insulted.
Deadpool and Wolverine This movie will 1) bomb at the box office and 2) prove all the excuses wrong.
Finally, finally! A movie has been advertised about hot guys doing hot things in front of hot girls. So, believe me, people are going to get back into the movie-going habit. Because if you make a movie that people actually want to see, they’re going to see the movie. And regular people want to see hot guys doing hot things in front of hot girls.
It’s called wish fulfillment.
The formula isn’t hard, you hypocritical fools.
