Woke Olympic Opening Ceremony Does Not Speak for France

Marion Maréchal urged the world not to blame her country, saying a “left-wing minority” was responsible for the anti-Christian insults that took place at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

Maréchal, the niece of National Rally party leader Marine Le Pen and recently elected to the European Parliament, said she sat and watched the opening ceremony with her children and condemned the woke opening ceremony.

Member of the European Parliament Said “Between the decapitated Marie Antoinette, the kissing crowds, the drag queens, the humiliation of the Republican Guard being forced to dance as Aya Nakamura, and the general ugliness of the costumes and choreography, it was difficult to evaluate the rare successful scenes.”

“We are trying desperately to celebrate the values of sport and the beauty of France in the midst of such crude and woke propaganda,” Maréchal said.

Speaking to a global audience at X, she Added“To all Christians around the world who watched the #Paris2024 ceremony and felt insulted by this drag queen parody of the Last Supper, know that it’s not France that’s speaking, but a left-wing minority that responds to any provocation. #notinmyname.”

A member of France’s Le Pen political family, Maréchal retired from French politics in 2017 after his aunt Marine Le Pen lost the presidential election to Emmanuel Macron.

Nevertheless, she was active in promoting political philosophy and founded the Institute of Social, Economic and Political Sciences (ISSEP) in Lyon during her political sojourn.

She also won over fans in the US after appearing at the 2018 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) where she railed against the negative effects of mass immigration on her home country.

“After 40 years of mass immigration, Islamic lobbying and the quest for political correctness, France is transforming from the eldest daughter of the Catholic Church into the niece of Islam. Terrorism is just the tip of the iceberg. This is not the France our grandparents fought for,” she said.

In 2022, Maréchal returned to politics, further distancing herself from her aunt by teaming up with populist pundit Éric Zemmour. But the relationship did not last, and earlier this year Zemmour expelled her from the Reconquier party after she called on her supporters to back her aunt’s Rally National in early parliamentary elections called by President Macron.

This means that Maréchal will represent Italy in the European Parliament as an independent, affiliated with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) party. It is not immediately clear whether he will seek to return to his family’s National Coalition party.
