Stabbing Incident at Hamburg Train Station
On Friday, more than a dozen people were stabbed during an attack at a train station in Hamburg, Germany.
Initially, firefighters reported that six individuals were in serious condition, while three others had minor injuries, along with three who appeared to be attacked. However, police later clarified that they could not confirm the exact number of injured.
According to the authorities, a 39-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the attack. Preliminary investigations suggest she acted independently, and inquiries are ongoing.
The incident occurred on the train platform around 6 PM local time, with first responders tending to victims both on the platform and inside the trains.
As the situation unfolded, various train services were suspended or rerouted, causing significant disruption. It’s worth noting that knives are prohibited at train stations.
Social media footage reportedly captured the suspect being escorted by police, showing no signs of resistance. The knife used in the attack was recovered at the scene.
A police spokesperson indicated that investigators are looking into whether mental health issues may have contributed to her actions, emphasizing that there haven’t been any indications of political motives thus far.
Witnesses recounted the chaos as victims were treated while surrounded by law enforcement, with the atmosphere in the station markedly tense.
