Tragic Dog Attack in San Bernardino Park

A 51-year-old woman has tragically died, and another individual sustained serious injuries in a dog attack at Perris Hill Park in San Bernardino, California, on Thursday.

San Bernardino police officers were dispatched to the park after receiving reports of a dog attack. Upon their arrival, they were confronted with several dogs. This understandably led to some confusion as one woman claimed she had been bitten, according to reports from various news outlets.

Sergeant Chris Gray from the San Bernardino Police Department commented on the chaotic scene, noting, “There were multiple dogs present, so it was a bit confusing initially.”

While an officer tended to the injured woman, two more dogs unexpectedly charged out from nearby bushes. In a swift reaction, officers shot one of the dogs, as detailed by news reports.

The other victim, identified as Theodora Mendoza, was found about 30 yards away. She suffered severe injuries from the attack and unfortunately later succumbed at a local hospital.

In the aftermath, San Bernardino Animal Control, in collaboration with police, removed a total of 14 dogs from the park. There hasn’t been a confirmation regarding how many of these dogs were directly involved in the attack, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The San Bernardino Police Department has yet to provide further comments or updates on the situation.
