Lawsuit Against BYU Quarterback Jake Retzlaff
A lawsuit has been filed by a woman in Utah accusing BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff of sexual assault. This incident allegedly occurred at her residence in November 2023, as reported by local news.
The woman, referred to in the lawsuit as Jane Doe AG, claims she reported the incident to law enforcement. According to her statements, she and Retzlaff initially connected through social media.
Retzlaff is being sued for battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, with the plaintiff seeking punitive damages from the quarterback.
As of the latest updates, Retzlaff faces no criminal charges. His attorney, Mark Baute, has publicly stated that the quarterback is “virtually innocent.”
Burt, representing Retzlaff, has described him as “a lovely young man.” Retzlaff moved from California to Utah when he transferred to BYU in 2023, where he achieved notable success, leading the Cougars to an 11-2 record last season. Interestingly, he is recognized as the first known Jewish starting quarterback at BYU, a university operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
