The Metropolitan police said a 32-year-old woman was in a life-threatening condition in hospital after being stabbed at Notting Hill carnival.
Police said on Sunday they were aware of three stabbing incidents at the annual celebrations in west London, with a 29-year-old man in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and a 24-year-old man who was also stabbed but whose condition is yet to be assessed.
Police said 15 officers were assaulted but no one was seriously injured and 90 arrests were made on Sunday.
A police spokesman said: “Hundreds of thousands of people gathered at Notting Hill Carnival today to enjoy some fantastic celebrations.”
“Our officers have been on duty to keep them safe as part of a very carefully planned policing operation.
“Unfortunately, a small number of people have committed crimes and engaged in violent acts.”
Police said the charges range from assault on an emergency worker, assault, possession with intent to supply, sexual offences and robbery.
The suspect was also arrested on suspicion of drug possession, theft, possession of nitrous oxide and breach of peace.
Police had earlier said they had increased their investigative powers to prevent further violence after a man was stabbed and a knife was recovered.
