Woman killed in Sydney attacks was trying to save her baby | Bondi Junction stabbings

A woman who died trying to save her baby in a Sydney stabbing has been hailed as an “incredible mother”.

Australian media widely reported her name as “Ash Good,” 38, and police said the nine-month-old baby had to undergo surgery after an attack at a Sydney shopping center on Saturday afternoon. He announced that he had received it.

Witnesses said Good tried to save the infant by handing her over for treatment after she was stabbed.

Sky News Australia anchor Laura Jayes described the baby’s mother as an “incredible person” who “has the world at her feet”.

Jays, who knows the mother, told Sky News: “So many family members and friends wanted to go to the hospital this afternoon that we had to take turns in and out of the waiting room.

“Her baby underwent surgery, but the mother could not.”

Jays added: “She was one of the all-rounders. She was an incredible athlete. She was very smart and very beautiful.

“She was so excited to be a new mother, but all that was blown away in a matter of seconds here this afternoon.

“Ultimately, I want my baby to know what a great mother she was.”

Witnesses to the stabbing said he helped the baby and mother after they were attacked.

An anonymous man told 9News Sydney: “The baby was stabbed. The mother was stabbed and she came with the baby and threw it at me. I was holding the baby and it was in pretty bad shape.

“There was a lot of blood on the floor. I hope the baby is okay.”

The man’s brother “helped hold and compress the baby, and so did the mother,” he said.

“We bought clothes, shirts and kept screaming for help to stop the baby’s bleeding by putting pressure on his stomach.

“My brother was holding the baby very well and was putting a lot of pressure on it, so I think the baby will be okay.”

The man added: “We were just shopping and saw a man run up to a woman with a baby and we both thought we would help.

“But I told my brother we had to run in. I ran in and told the men to close the door. Then the mother came in with her baby, stabbed and bleeding. . We took them to the store, made sure they were safe and then called for help.”

Good worked as an account executive at software company Docusign, according to her LinkedIn page.

She also holds a Master’s degree in Osteopathy from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

In one of her recent posts, Ms. Good wrote on her LinkedIn page:

“I have never forgotten what an honor it is to be a parent.

“And being able to take time away from work and spend time with my kids… it’s so special.”

“The last information I had was that the baby was undergoing surgery, but it’s too early to tell the truth,” NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb told a news conference. But it’s terrible.”

Asked about reports that the baby’s mother had died in hospital, Webb said: “I’ve heard the same rumors, but I can’t confirm that.”
