Woman on 'Ten Most Wanted Fugitives' list arrested in India and brought back to the US for trial

The FBI has apprehended Cindy Rodriguez Singh, a fugitive on their “10 Most Wanted” list, in India. This arrest comes in relation to a warrant for the alleged murder of her six-year-old son, a case that has garnered significant attention.

Reportedly, Rodriguez Singh had been evading prosecution through illegal flights and faced a capital murder charge concerning a minor in Texas. It seems she fled the U.S. to escape the serious charges against her regarding the death of Noel Rodriguez Alvarez, her child.

An Interpol Red Notice for Rodriguez Singh was issued on October 3, 2024, which was circulated to all member countries, including India. Alongside the notice, a handover packet was also submitted.

Collaborating with Indian authorities and Interpol, the FBI successfully tracked down Rodriguez Singh. She has since been extradited to the U.S. and is now in the custody of Texas law enforcement.

FBI director Kash Patel commented on the situation, emphasizing the agency’s resolve in pursuing fugitives who try to evade justice. He asserted that the recent arrest reflects the unwavering commitment to bringing accountability, especially in cases involving vulnerable individuals.

The investigation into Rodriguez Singh began when the Everman Police Department got a call from the Texas Department of Family and Protection Services on March 20, 2023. They were tasked with checking on her son’s welfare.

Authorities learned that the child faced numerous serious health issues and, during the welfare check, Rodriguez Singh reportedly misled investigators, claiming the boy was in Mexico. However, inquiries revealed that he had never left with her, a grave development that complicates the case further.

Rodriguez Singh had been charged with capital murder on October 31, 2023, in a district court in Fort Worth, Texas. Following that, a federal warrant was issued for her arrest due to the illegal flights she took to evade prosecution. She was named on the FBI’s “Most Wanted” list in July. This makes her the fourth person captured from that list since Patel’s appointment as director.
