Shooting Outside Virginia GOP Headquarters
A woman was shot outside the Republican Party of Virginia’s headquarters in Richmond on Thursday afternoon, just days ahead of Election Day, as reported by the state GOP.
The incident took place around 1:45 p.m. in front of the Obenshain Center located on East Grace Street in downtown Richmond, according to local news outlet WTVR.
The Virginia GOP shared on X that first responders arrived quickly and confirmed that all staff members were safe.
The post stated, “Around 1:45 p.m. today, a woman was shot immediately in front of The Obenshain Center, the offices of the Republican Party of Virginia. City of Richmond first responders were at the scene within minutes. All Republican Party of Virginia staff are safe.”
The party further mentioned that they had no evidence to suggest that the shooting was related to their operations, emphasizing, “The proximity of this event notwithstanding, we have no indication that the shooting was related to the operations of the Republican Party of Virginia.”
This shooting occurred less than a week before the midterm elections on November 3, when voters will head to the polls across Virginia and the country.
Details surrounding the shooting, including the factors leading to it and the condition of the woman, remain unclear. The Richmond Police Department has not yet responded to inquiries for further information.
This is a developing story; updates will follow.
