A woman was reportedly stabbed multiple times and nearly thrown over a railing in the lobby of Miami International Airport late Saturday night, throwing the travel hub into chaos.
The horrific incident took place in the international reception lobby, where the woman was attacked at around 11.30pm. ABC reported.The unidentified woman remains hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
“We would like to assure the public that the situation is under control and the safety of passengers, staff and visitors remains our top priority,” the airport authority said. In a statement.
Authorities responded immediately and the situation was quickly contained, airport officials said.
During an apparently unprovoked attack, an adult male attempted to throw the woman over a railing on the fourth floor overlooking the airport’s Concourse J, police said. WPL.
According to a statement obtained by police, the woman escaped from the man and fled to the third floor, where she remained until emergency responders arrived. Boca News Now.
Authorities reportedly detained a male suspect and found a knife nearby.
Local Instagram accounts Only DadePolice, who first reported the incident, said bystanders at the scene helped the injured woman until emergency services arrived.

It has not been revealed whether the man or woman were tourists or airport employees, and it is not currently clear why they were at the airport.
Authorities told Boca News Now that police received a call about an active shooter at the airport around the same time as the stabbing, causing further unrest at the airport, but that proved to be false.
Police said the disturbance caused a “brief interruption” to operations at the airport, but things have since returned to normal.
The airport was already in chaos after it was shut down on Friday after a faulty software update was deployed by U.S. cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.
An overnight update to Microsoft Windows computers caused computers to crash and disrupted millions of businesses around the world.
Major disruptions at Miami International Airport forced the cancellation of at least 44 flights and delays of 169, according to the Miami Herald.
