Woman told House committee Matt Gaetz had sex with her when she was 17: report

A woman reportedly told the House Ethics Committee that she had a sexual relationship with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) when she was 17 years old.

ABC News reported On Thursday, the woman testified before the committee investigating Gaetz, but the investigation was halted after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) announced on Wednesday that Gaetz had resigned from Congress. Ta.

The resignation announcement came hours after President-elect Trump nominated Gaetz to be attorney general.

The House Ethics Committee's chief counsel declined to comment when contacted by Fox News Digital.

Fox News Digital also reached out to Gaetz's congressional office for comment.

According to ABC, the Department of Justice (DOJ) previously interviewed the woman, now in her 20s, as part of a long-running investigation into Gaetz related to sex trafficking and obstruction of justice charges.

The Justice Department ultimately did not file charges, and Gates has consistently denied all wrongdoing.
