Woman Who Confessed to Killing Her Boyfriend and Dismembering Him Is Found Not Guilty

Mother Acquitted After Stabbing Boyfriend

A jury in Brazil has cleared a mother who admitted to killing her boyfriend, claiming it was an act of protection after witnessing him sexually assault her 11-year-old daughter. The incident took place in Minas Gerais state, involving Erika Pereira da Silveria Vicente and her partner, Everton Amaro da Silva.

According to reports, Vicente found explicit emails sent by her boyfriend to her daughter. When she heard her daughter scream and rushed into the room, she discovered him attempting to force himself on the girl.

In a panic, Vicente apparently called her son into the living room, gave him a beer mixed with Klonopin, a tranquilizer, and then attacked her boyfriend while he was incapacitated.

Prosecutors contended that the violent and calculated nature of the murder indicated first-degree murder, characterized by “cold premeditation” rather than impulsive rage, which would have warranted a lesser charge.

Onlookers stated that her son assisted Vicente in moving the body to an abandoned area in Belo Horizonte. There, she allegedly mutilated the corpse and set it on fire.

Brazilian authorities connected Vicente to the crime by tracing a blood trail to her boyfriend’s apartment, where she handed over a knife. Although she confessed, Vicente maintained that her actions were necessary to prevent further assaults on her daughter.

After a day of testimony, the jury reached a verdict, acquitting her of aggravated murder and dismemberment. Vicente had spent a year in prison before the trial, but the case concluded with the judge declaring her free of any wrongdoing.
