Woman's aggressive outburst at Orlando Southwest airport results in arrest

Camera Captures Airport Meltdown

A video has emerged showing a woman having an explosive outburst at Orlando International Airport while interacting with Southwest Airlines staff last week.

Identified as 45-year-old Selomit Velez-Rodriguez, she was filmed by passenger Peyton Turbeville, shouting at an employee. In the video, her frustration is evident as she exclaims, “Motherf—- R, are you kidding? Are you teasing me?”

Dressed in a large backpack, shorts, a red long-sleeved shirt, and a ball cap, Velez-Rodriguez emphasized her distress by claiming to be on her way to bury her brother.

As her tirade continued, she reportedly kicked at the employee, prompting gasps from onlookers who remarked, “Oh, that’s an assault.” Her anger escalated as she slapped the Southwest desk monitor multiple times, mentioning that “two flights were wasted… 45 minutes later, two flights, three planes.”

After a brief pause, she instructed nearby travelers to call the police as she pursued an employee through the concourse, visibly agitated.

According to Turbeville, the woman was upset regarding a standby list for her three flights, though these assertions remain unconfirmed.

Officers from Orlando Police responded to the scene at around 9:30 PM. Witnesses reported that Velez-Rodriguez attempted to disrupt boarding, physically confront staff, and damaged over $1,000 in equipment.

She was subsequently arrested and charged with battery, criminal mischief, and resisting non-violent officers. During her custody, the police noted that she struggled against them.

Court records indicate that Velez-Rodriguez posted a $5,000 bond and has since been allowed to return to Illinois.
