Some female Disney enthusiasts are urging Disney World to prohibit transgender TikTok user Lily Contino from filming in park restrooms and sharing content online.
Contino, who has been “rating bathrooms” at Disney World through social media, might also face civil lawsuits as some women featured in those posts are reportedly exploring legal options due to “invasions of privacy and emotional distress.”
Meanwhile, Disney has yet to release any official statement regarding the situation.
According to Florida Law 810.145, recording or broadcasting someone in a restroom without their consent is illegal. Breaching this law is considered a felony, potentially leading to a five-year prison sentence and a $5,000 fine.
Additionally, another Florida regulation specifies that individuals must use bathrooms that correspond with their biological sex in certain private, public, and state-licensed facilities, deeming it a misdemeanor for trans individuals to use restrooms that don’t align with their assigned sex.
It’s still uncertain whether this law is applicable to the restrooms at Disney World.
As reported, Contino has expressed frustration about the bathroom situation in Disney World through social media videos, stating that being in Florida, known for its more conservative stance, wouldn’t deter him from using women’s restrooms.
He remarked, “These Disney bathroom selfies upset you, right? Well, remember, all the celebrities you admire have taken bathroom selfies at some point.”
“I know I won’t pass [as female]. Trust me, I understand,” Contino continued in another video, seemingly enjoying the idea that women might feel uncomfortable with his presence in their restrooms.
He added, “I don’t really know what the rules are for trans women in women’s bathrooms, but I need to go, so I’m going to use the restroom,” suggesting a casual disregard for the existing regulations.
Contino pronounced, “If I get stopped, I guess that’s just how it is, but I’m a woman, so I’ll use the women’s restroom, regardless of whether I am in Florida or California.”
Author JK Rowling, known for the “Harry Potter” series, reacted to Contino’s actions at Disney World by labeling him a “scary creep with mouse ears.” She accused him of “violating women’s boundaries” and described his bathroom selfies as a “trophy.”
Rowling stated, “His bathroom selfie is just a trophy. He wants to be in the background with women and girls, asserting his violation of their boundaries.” She further commented that if “every woman he has is not there, there’s just a selfie creeping into the ears of a mouse, and that’s not what he really wants.”
Reportedly, this isn’t the first incident involving Contino at a Disney Park. Last month, he expressed feeling “unsafe” at Disney World after restaurant staff referred to him as “sir.”
Contino filmed his interaction with Disney employees and left without paying for his drink.
Previously, he recorded himself at Disneyland using corndogs and cake pops to discuss his surgical procedures, which sparked outrage online, with commenters noting that children might have been present during those comments.
