Tournament Committee Rankings
Over the course of 27 days, the NCAA Selection Show revealed the 68-team March Madnest Tournament Field, with the committee on Sunday first seeing what the top 16 teams will look like next month.
Winning the top 16 spots in the tournament field means there is less travel for every 1 to 4 seeds that host the first two rounds of the tournament.
This year, women's matches caught up with the boys in one of the key factors behind the selection of tournament field, switching to the Quad system to determine the strength of their victory and loss. Currently, daily net rankings help you determine which Quad or Loss will fall into at the top matchups of Quad One and Quad Four.
This minimized the use of eye tests used in the previous season, or minimized only ranked wins, with AP polling being voted by media members.
Despite UCLA's loss three days ago against No. 6 USC, the Bruins landed at the top of the rankings. We also offer top 10 AP teams like No. 9 Ohio A spot near the cutoff to hold the start of the tournament.
The committee has announced their top 16, which was updated on Thursday, February 27th, with another release scheduled for the end of the regular season. Live will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Shortly after university Gameday announced its first ranking, UConn Huskies questioned the accuracy of the committee.
UConn overtakes the defending champion
Under coach Dawn Staley, the South Carolina Gamecox have built a reputation for high-intensity basketball where three-time national champions don't give up on drive and tire opponents with endless rotations of the stars.
On Sunday, South Carolina met UConn for 11 consecutive seasons, with the Gamecocks recording a four-game winning streak against the Huskies of head coach Geno Auriemma and a 71-game home victory streak at Columbia.
UConn didn't care about any of these stripes and dismantled Gamecocks in his own game. The Husky pushed the pace with their passes and deep fire. In the first half alone, visitors were seven-fourths above the arc. Combined with three-point shooting and UConn freshman forward Sara Strong, the Husky rose 22 points in the first half as he approached a double double.
It's not that easy for the second half of the gamecocks. UConn was stacked up and brought the lead up to 29 points in an 87-58 victory. UConn outscores South Carolina each quarter, with guard Azzi Fudd leading all scorers, with 28 points and 23 points coming in the second half on 11 of 22 shootings.
Guard Page Bookers made a double-double with 12 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds, but Strong hit her own double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
“It's a great rivalry. When they started winning, it became a rivalry,” Orienma said. “When they started winning, it was a headache that came to mind for me, but it became a great rival. I think it's one of the best games in college basketball right now.”
According to ESPN BET, the victory made UConn a favorite to win the NCAA Tournament and abdicated South Carolina.
Juju is shining vs. top rank UCLA
Sophomore superstar USC guard Juju Watkins' first 21 games of the season, with two games earning under 20 points in the game. Opposition Wisconsin badger And at 8th place Ohio State, Watkins scored 14 and 17 points respectively. Despite victory in both games, Watkins didn't appear to be heading towards her usual self in a crosstown matchup with the undefeated No. 1 ranked UCLA Bruins.
Watkins quickly eliminated doubt about the Trojan, scoring 11 points in the first quarter and extending USC's lead to 12 points at the start of the second quarter. Not only were the matchups between the two top programs in the country, but the matchups between two national player candidates, Watkins and the Bruins Center Laurenbetts, were also billed.
The Trojans scored 71-60 with 38 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks and five assists from Watkins. An incredible performance that promotes a second victory against the opponent who ranked USC number one in program history. This is the first time since 1983 since USC defeated No. 1 Louisiana Tech in the NCAA title game.
Betts had a good game on all accounts, scoring 18 points with 13 rebounds, but UCLA wasn't enough to enter the Garen Center and win on the road.
Then on Sunday, both teams struggled. For USC, it was a trip to Seattle Washington Husky. In the third quarter, the Husky took a 12-point lead with 1:51 left.
USC needed a 69-64 victory with 11 points from forward Kiki Iliafen in five-fifths of the fourth quarter, requiring a fourth 68.8% shooting quarter. -There are two from 3 beds and over the arc.
The Bruins, part of the Big Ten doubleheader, followed by the Trojan horse. This time we will return home and welcome the 22nd place rank Spartan, Michigan. In its availability report, UCLA lists Betts as suspicious of what appears to be a bit of a gamemanship. Betts practiced the day before, attended filming on Sunday, and did not wear boots on his right leg due to a toe injury.
Sources confirmed that she was not reported to have been moved out of questionable things, and the TV crew announced it minutes before the hint.
The first half wasn't important, and the Bruins built a 13-point lead before halftime, but there were signs that the Spartans weren't about to give in. In the final 44 seconds of the first half, MSU scored five points. Set the second half to trim the deficit to single digits.
Michigan outscored UCLA 22-12 in the third quarter, leading to fourth place and set up a game before and after pulling the contest down to the wire. After that, down two points, the host crew evaluated the Spartans' technical foul against the bench, finishing the game with 17 seconds left, extending the UCLA lead to four points.
The Bruins scored 75-69, but the technology was a tragedy of delayed decisions in an interesting and competitive matchup in the Big Ten.
It's normal for teams to go a little slump after such a big game, with both Los Angeles teams still surviving, but two weeks of the season still remain.
