Women’s lacrosse: Charlotte North discusses musical superstitions

Charlotte North’s Superstitions and Success in Lacrosse

Charlotte North, a standout in women’s lacrosse, has established a unique routine throughout her career. To become the NCAA’s top goalscorer of all time and steer Boston University to the national championship in 2021, she crafted a playlist that resembles a superstition.

“I’m very superstitious,” North shared in an interview with Ryan Mannion, speaking on his podcast, “A Resilient Life.” She explained, “I have to listen to a specific playlist to actually prepare for the game. There are many other superstitions I have.” Among her favorites is a hype song she performed during her time at Boston University after transferring from Duke in 2021. That song? The Dropkick Murphys’ hit “I’m Shipped to Boston.”

Nobody could forget that jam; it was the track that played before every game at Boston College. “Whether it’s a national championship or just another rival game for the season, get ready for some big games,” she noted.

Additionally, North was part of the U.S. women’s national lacrosse team that won gold at the World Lacrosse Championships in July 2022. Looking ahead, she also played for Team 1 in 2024, marking her entry into the Women’s National Box Lacrosse team. That year, her team clinched the gold medal at the World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship, defeating Canada 10-7. North excelled, finishing as the team leader with 25 goals and ranking third in points with 31 during the tournament.
