Former NCAA swimming champion Riley Gaines says she may become a supporter to save women's sports from transgender invasions and consider taking office in the near future.
The activist and former university athlete has vowed to work to defeat politicians who voted against the ban on trans athletes and voted against them from playing in girls and women's sports. “Don't Break the Protection of Women and Girls in the Sports Act of 2025” (HR 28) in the Senate on Monday (HR 28), she has now acquired 45 Democrats to beat 45 Democrats. Fox News It has been reported.
Gaines was located in Minnesota and supported the state's bill to protect women's sports in that state, but that bill also failed.
The tireless activist told Fox News that she never imagined that she might take office, but that could be changing.
“But now, of course, on this issue and so on, I'm going to say the whole American first agenda. I'm so passionate, I care so deeply, I love it, so I know. That's definitely not something I'll rule out. I don't think it's that crazy yet because I think you need to be a bit clinically crazy to make it spontaneous. But I believe that in the end, influencing policy like that is what I think I'm doing myself,” Gaines said.
Gaines has certainly increased her profile since graduating from college and got caught up in a transgender controversy when she and the other women lost their chance to win the title at the 2022 NCAA as transgender Swimmeria Thomas tore apart her female foes. Gaines has since spent much time advocating for women's sports.
Fox News added that at least one well-known Republican is committed to recommending Gaines if she decides to run for the office.
“I think Riley has the ability to pursue what she wants to pursue,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn told Fox News. “She thought she would become a dentist, so life had some interesting turns. I'm very happy to see the work she does to protect women and girls.”
For now, however, Gaines says she is focused on the state and federal government passing laws to protect women's sports from trans athlete invasion. But after that? Who knows what opportunities will come to the 24-year-old star?
