The LPGA Tour returned to action as it began playing at the JM Eagle LA Championship on Thursday. The first major of the Chevron Championship season is being held Next The week is the last time players really lock in while they prepare.
Among those who proved Houston was ready was Madeline Thugstrom as the 65-year-old made the first ace of the season on her final hole in the opening round.
World’s No. 1 Nelly Corda finished on the fifth day at 67 with a Sagstrom heel. It was the first time she’d done it since the 2023 BMW Ladies Championship.
Korda’s opening round had four consecutive holes, 3-6, with eight birdies in total. It’s another level of lock-in.
She eventually had six approach shots 105-130 yards away, landing near 7 feet, 8 inches average. I’m going out on my limbs and telling her she’s ready for Houston next week.
The JM Eagle LA Championship continues to play on Friday and can be viewed on the Golf Channel from 6 to 9pm.
