Once based in Florida, the couple’s goal was to travel the world in retirement, and they’re doing just that.

Bev and John Martin retired in 2020. They decided to start their travel adventure “small” by first taking a road trip across the United States.

They bought an Airstream trailer and made it their mission to mark every state off their bucket list. This is something they are proud of.

The Martins, who now run a blog called Retirement Travelers, then decided to take things to the next level.

They sold their house, donated items to charity, gave gifts to their children, all so they could travel the world.

“We thought, ‘Why not go see the world?'” John Martin told SWNS.

The couple, who are grandparents, said they got rid of everything, including the Airstream they used to travel around the United States, but kept the golf clubs, as listed in Retirement Traveler. .

John and Bev Martin left Stuart, Florida at ages 60 and 61 to pursue a life of backpacking around the world.

So far, they have been to Morocco, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Sweden, Ireland, and Chile. . , Uruguay — and dozens of other locations.

When asked what the couple misses most about America, John Martin said simple home-cooked meals and Cracker Barrel.

“Normally, when we return to the States, you can find us ordering a vegetable platter and a large glass of tea at our local Cracker Barrel,” he said.

He joked, “Being called ‘Sweetie’ by a waitress is the welcome we need.”
