Worries increase about Najee Harris following news about the fireworks event

Najee Harris’s Eye Injury Update

It’s been two weeks since Najee Harris sustained an eye injury during a fireworks incident on July 4th, and the response from fans has made it clear how concerning the situation is.

General Manager Joe Holtis mentioned that Harris may need to start training camp on the non-football injury/sickness list. He added that he anticipates any time on this list will be brief.

“Nothing is set in stone,” Holtis noted.

While veterans reported for training camp Wednesday morning, Harris remained in the Stanford Bay Area, where he’s been receiving medical attention since the accident.

Holtis confirmed that Harris is expected to be at the Chargers facility Wednesday night.

If Harris is placed on the NFI list and isn’t cleared by the time the 53-man roster is finalized at the end of camp, he could miss at least the first four games of the season.

There were multiple injuries reported from the event in Antioch, California. According to ESPN, Harris had some friends involved.

On July 10th, Harris’ agent, Doug Hendrickson, stated that the injury was “superficial” and expressed optimism for Harris’s preparation for the upcoming NFL season.

Holtis assured that Harris is “good” and that the feedback they’ve received has been positive.

However, there seems to be a sense of skepticism in the NFL community regarding the nature of Harris’s injury. Some social media reactions conveyed doubts, with one user questioning, “Everything about Najee Harris’s eye injuries is odd. Everything. I hope he will fully recover and play this season. But everything about the situation feels strange.”

Another user responded with sarcasm, remarking, “I usually get treatment for a ‘superficial wound’ from a Stanford doctor two weeks ago.” Other comments echoed the sentiment that the situation hasn’t been quite convincing from the start.

Harris, now 27, signed a one-year, $5.25 million deal with the Chargers this offseason after spending four impressive seasons with the Steelers, where he consistently rushed for over 1,000 yards each year.
