‘Would love to’: Republicans jostle for open spots on Marjorie Taylor Greene-led DOGE panel

Some House Republicans are embracing the idea of ​​Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who will lead a new Congressional subcommittee dedicated to reducing government waste.

Fox News Digital has learned that House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) plans to create a new committee under his jurisdiction called the “Government Efficiency Subcommittee.” I first learned about it on Thursday.

And multiple Republican senators have already told Fox News Digital they want to join the panel.

“Marjorie takes no prisoners,” said Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), who said he had already texted Greene about the subcommittee. “I would love to participate.”

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida), who is also seeking a seat on the committee, said “it's been good for her” when asked about Greene leading the committee.

“I think she will basically be a constant target in some of the spending cuts that we need to make,” Luna said.

Regarding his own qualification for the tournament, he said, “I'm going to start pushing now.''

This comes after President Trump announced the creation of the agreement. advisory committee He called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and appointed Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk to head it.

President Trump said the commission would help his administration “reduce excessive regulation, eliminate wasteful spending, and reorganize federal agencies.”

Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), a member of the newly formed DOGE caucus, said whoever leads the subcommittee should be “hawkish” on fiscal issues.

“I’m definitely interested,” Mills said. ” I always talk about three things. One is to eliminate programs and departments that no longer serve their intended purpose. Innovate in specific areas with the understanding that as times change, requirements and needs change as well. And we're also refocusing on certain areas to make sure the American people know what they have access to in terms of assets and resources. ”

Rep. Byron Donald (R-Florida), who serves on Comer's oversight committee, praised Greene's appointment as chairman, although he had no strong feelings about joining the DOGE subcommittee.

“One thing about Marjorie is that she's very detail-oriented, so she's going to want to be very helpful to Elon and Vivek,” Donald said. “And obviously we're breaking new ground here.”

He also suggested that Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Texas) would be “very good” on the subcommittee.

Cloud certainly took an interest in Fox News Digital's questions and praised Greene as well.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris (R-Md.) did not comment directly on Ms. Greene, but said some fiscal hawks in her conservative group would be considered for the post. “I'm looking forward to it,” he said.
