Former President Trump was injured when gunfire rang out in the crowd during a rally on Saturday evening and he rushed off the stage, according to Breitbart News.
But the blood-stained former president raised his fist in defiance as the crowd cheered.
The U.S. Secret Service said its forces shot and killed the gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. One person at the rally was killed and two others were seriously injured.
“The attack was the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since 1981, when Ronald Reagan was shot as he walked to his motorcade after delivering a speech in Washington, D.C. The would-be assassin was John Hinckley Jr., who was in the crowd,” Breitbart News reported.
The outlet reported Sunday that Biden is now under fire for calling Trump a “real threat to this country” two weeks before the assassination attempt.
Shortly before the shooting, Biden likened Trump to a “dictator” in a social media post.
“Biden’s harsh portrayal of the former president has been criticized as inflammatory since a gunman, later identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, killed one bystander and severely injured two others in an attempt to assassinate President Trump,” according to a Breitbart News report.
