Wrestling icon Ric Flair was reportedly taken to a hospital in Florida after an incident outside a bar. Sources indicate, as reported by TMZ, that Flair was at a bar in Tampa when he stumbled outside, resulting in injuries to his face and possibly a concussion.
According to the report, Flair sustained cuts on his head and eye that were bleeding, which prompted an ambulance to take him to the hospital.
Notably, this incident occurred shortly after Flair revealed he would miss a scheduled event in Seattle due to a blood clot in his leg. He shared on X, “My Doctors Have Limited My Travel To 3–4 Hours. Seattle Falls Outside That Range, And As Disappointed As I Am, I Have To Put My Health And Recovery First. Blood Clots Are Extremely Serious And Can Be Life-Threatening. We Have Seen This Recently With Jalen Hurts And The Complications Involving Blood Clots In His Lungs. It Is A Reminder That This Is Not Something To Take Lightly, And I Must Follow Medical Advice.”
Flair mentioned that he is set to undergo surgery on the problematic vein, and he hopes that it will allow him to travel more freely afterward. He expressed his regret, stating, “Please Know This Decision Was Not Made Lightly. I Am Truly Sorry For The Inconvenience And Disappointment, And I Am Incredibly Grateful For Your Patience, Understanding, And Continued Support. I Look Forward To Getting Healthy And Seeing You All Down The Road. Thank You For The Love And Support.”
Tampa Fire Rescue confirmed they responded to a fall outside the bar, noting that an adult male was transported to a local hospital, but they could not release any personal details due to privacy regulations.
At 77, Flair has faced various health and alcohol-related challenges throughout the years.
He has been involved in wrestling sporadically in recent times, participating in what he called his “Last Match” in 2022, a tag-team event where he reportedly passed out twice during the bout. Flair made a cameo in All Elite Wrestling in 2023, where he had a brief role in Sting’s final match.
Throughout his career, Flair has achieved significant milestones, being an eight-time World Championship Wrestling heavyweight champion, a nine-time National Wrestling Alliance champion, and a two-time WWE champion.
The WWE welcomed him into their Hall of Fame in 2008 both as a solo wrestler and as part of the Four Horsemen in 2012.
