In an interview with CNN, author Gurwinder Bhogal revealed that he spoke for two hours with Luigi Mangione months before the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, and revealed that Mangione was the U.S. He said he hinted at his dissatisfaction with the medical system.
CNN's Erin Burnett asked Bogal about a video call he had with Mangione in May. Barnett said the timing was important as Mangione was about to go “off the grid” in July.
Mangione was arrested on suspicion of murdering Thompson at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania. Thompson was shot to death outside a Manhattan hotel.
“I mean, there are some things that I understand a little bit more now. But, I mean, I can't say that I could have really predicted his behavior from that video call. Um, you know, he's certainly a member of the U.S. health care system. There was a brief exchange in which he compared the U.S. health care system to ours, saying it's really expensive,” Bhogal said.

Who is Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the murder of United Healthcare CEO?
“I told him about the NHS, because here in the UK we have a free healthcare system. And he seemed to admire the British healthcare system. And I said to him, “Isn't it great? Yes, but I said it's not that simple. He's a big fan of insurance, said it's not that simple because there are a lot of waiting lists in the UK, but said the system was better in the UK than in the US and he said there were some trade-offs. I agreed to that,” Bhogal added.
Bogal also talked about other things he remembered about Mangione during the conversation.
“He was very concerned about things like online porn and seemed to believe that a lot of men don't go out or see women because of porn addiction. People believed they weren't accomplishing anything. They were getting a kind of dopamine from video games, so they couldn't accomplish anything in the real world,” Bhogal said. Ta.

Bogal said Mangione is concerned about the impact social media has on people.
“And he was worried that this was happening to him, too. And one of the topics of conversation was, he wanted some advice from me on how he could regain his agency. That was it,” he said.

Some on the left celebrated Thompson's death and hailed Mangione as a hero.
Former Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz said in an interview with Piers Morgan that she was “delighted” by Thompson's death. She recanted later in the conversation, stating that she could not empathize with his murder.
