WWE Backlash: Gunther vs. Pat McAfee

WWE star Gunther demonstrated his prowess in a recent match against former NFL punter and current commentator Pat McAfee during Saturday night’s backlash event.

The tension between the two had been building since Gunther’s surprising attack on commentator Michael Cole during “Laughing on Monday Night” following WrestleMania 41. Their match came only weeks after that incident, adding a layer of animosity to their encounter.

In the ring, Gunther claimed control, unleashing fierce chops to McAfee’s chest throughout the match. McAfee managed to turn the tables at times, even attempting to secure a pinfall against the formidable Austrian. Despite delivering some impactful kicks, Gunther remained unfazed, absorbing the blows.

Cole urged McAfee to surrender, but Gunther’s interference escalated things further when he dragged Cole into the ring and threw him out. At one point, Gunther even seemed to inadvertently assist McAfee with a pin attempt.

The confrontation reached its peak when Gunther delivered a lariat, ultimately incapacitating McAfee in the center of the ring. McAfee later shared his battle wounds on social media, expressing his discomfort with the aftermath, saying, “My heart is… ah… burning.”

Gunther acknowledged McAfee with a respectful gesture after their match. Looking ahead, Gunther is eager to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship again, hoping to bounce back after his loss to Jey Uso at WrestleMania. He’s been on a quest for redemption since that defeat.
