NXT Championship Highlights from Heat Wave

On Sunday night, Oba Femi demonstrated his impressive strength while defending his NXT Championship against Jevon Evans during the Heat Wave event.

Since joining the WWE NXT roster, Femi has established himself as a formidable competitor. He claimed the NXT title after defeating Trick Williams and Eddythorpe at the New Year’s Evil event on January 7. Since then, he has triumphed over everyone who challenged him.

In this match, Evans brought a unique challenge, showcasing agility and acrobatic skills. He executed cutters that could have been quite damaging, and at one point, seemed to think he had clinched victory—only for a referee to dismiss various pinfall attempts because Femi appeared to have evaded them.

Femi, seemingly toying with Evans, displayed his dominance by lifting him and slamming him through the announcer’s table outside the ring. This spectacle ignited cheers from the crowd in Lowell, Massachusetts. He then returned Evans to the ring and delivered a finishing move to secure the win.

Once the match concluded, Ricky Saints made his presence felt, stepping into the ring as if to challenge Femi next.

In other noteworthy actions during the event, two championship titles changed hands. Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin, part of the Darkstate faction, overcame Hank and Tank to win the NXT Tag Team Championship, leveraging their numbers advantage effectively. Additionally, Ash by Elegance defeated Jacy Jayne and Masha Slamovich, reclaiming the Total Nonstop Action Knockouts Championship. This came as a surprise, especially since Jayne entered the match as the reigning champion.

Laura Vise also made headlines, becoming the top contender for the NXT Women’s Championship by defeating rivals Haida Parker and Kerani Jordan. Meanwhile, in a mixed tag team matchup, Ethan Page and Chelsea Green secured a win against Tabion Heights and Tyra May Steele.
