Hulk Hogan Passes Away at 71
WWE has confirmed that Hulk Hogan, a legendary figure in the world of professional wrestling, has died. He was 71 years old.
A call for “cardiac arrest” was made from Hogan’s home in Clearwater, Florida, which prompted medical assistance to arrive. Reports indicate that he was transported to the ambulance. WWE shared their condolences on X, stating, “WWE is saddened to learn of Hulk Hogan’s passing. As a Hall of Famer, he played a crucial role in helping WWE gain worldwide prominence during the 1980s. Our thoughts are with Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
Hogan had undergone neck treatments in May, and more recently, reports suggested he had experienced significant heart procedures.
Born Terry Borea in Augusta, Georgia, Hogan became a household name in the 1980s with his “Hulkamania” persona, elevating what was then the WWF into a national phenomenon. When Vince McMahon launched WrestleMania, Hogan emerged as the company’s biggest star, contributing to what is now the largest wrestling event globally. The first WrestleMania was a pop culture sensation, featuring Hogan teaming up with Mr. T to defeat Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper.
Hogan’s celebrity status also paved the way for a career in film and television. He made a notable appearance in “Rocky III” as Thunderlips and featured in films such as “No Holds Barred” and “Mr. Nanny.” Additionally, he starred in the 1994 TV show “Hogan Knows Best” and appeared in popular series like “The A-Team” and “Baywatch.”
Born in 1953, Hogan had two children, Brooke and Nick, with his first wife, Linda. Following their divorce in 2007, he remarried Jennifer McDaniel in 2010, but that marriage ended in 2022. He later married Skye in 2023.
In July 2024, Hogan made an appearance at the Republican National Convention, publicly supporting Donald Trump. His last appearance on WWE programming was during Raw’s Netflix debut on January 6.
