WWE Saturday Night Main Event: Drew McIntyre makes a comeback to take on Randy Orton

Drew McIntyre’s Return to the Ring

Drew McIntyre is set to make his comeback in the main event of WWE Saturday Night, where he’ll go head-to-head with Randy Orton. This comes over a month after McIntyre faced off against Damien Priest in a steel cage match.

Last week, McIntyre made a surprise appearance, interrupting a segment featuring Orton and Cody Rhodes. During this moment, McIntyre questioned what had happened to Orton, reflecting on the latter’s struggle in a psychological battle with Rhodes. Orton had previously lost to Rhodes in a match that could have secured him a title shot against John Cena at Summerslam.

Orton had the last words of the evening, setting the stage for their upcoming match.

In a conversation with media, McIntyre expressed his thoughts on whether Orton had lost his edge. “We’ll see,” he stated. “He talked for eight minutes and then hit me with an RKO. But I’m always honest; I’ve never been a bad guy, despite what some might say.”

McIntyre reflected on Orton’s past friendships and how he had been supportive while Orton dealt with significant back issues. “What did Cody do?” McIntyre wondered, highlighting a time of concern for Orton’s well-being. Yet, at the same time, he acknowledged how Orton appeared to be on the offensive recently.

He also indicated that Orton’s recent tactics were part of a strategy to face him. McIntyre compared himself to John Cena, mentioning he wouldn’t resort to selling out for a title shot.

When asked about potential opponents and championship ambitions, McIntyre pointed directly to Rhodes. He made it clear that facing the current version of Cena wasn’t what he desired, saying, “I don’t want this John Cena. This one is… well, I just prefer the old Cena, the one who fought with loyalty and respect.”

McIntyre expressed a desire for genuine matches, as opposed to cheap finishes that leave audiences feeling disappointed. He believes his and Rhodes’ parallel careers could lead to compelling matchups that fans would be eager to see.

“We’ve both navigated through difficult times over the years,” he said, indicating their shared journey in wrestling. He concluded with a provocative statement about not being recognized for the Drew McIntyre he truly is and his ambition for authentic competition in the ring.
