In recent years, celebrity engagement in pro wrestling has been increasingly scrutinized. For instance, Travis Scott made an appearance at WrestleMania 41 to assist John Cena in securing his 17th WWE Championship. Jelly Roll participated in several matches, and Lil Yachty filled in for Trick Williams.
Blake Monroe, a member of WWE’s SmackDown roster, recently expressed excitement about the growing trend of celebrity participation in wrestling. Before SummerSlam, she mentioned watching a Jennifer Lawrence movie called *No Hard Feelings* and thought Lawrence could bring something special to the ring.
Monroe commented on her initial remark about Lawrence, saying, “I got a little weird reaction when I said this, Jennifer Lawrence.” She described a scene where Lawrence’s character, dating a younger man, gets involved in a beach altercation, ultimately showcasing her strength in a playful way. “So I think she’s really, really good. And she’s very funny and hot. So if you want to fight me or team up, you know where to come.”
While Monroe has appeared in multiple episodes leading up to her anticipated in-ring debut, she has not wrestled a full match yet. She did show up in June on “Friday Night SmackDown,” where she won against Julia.
Her recent match against Tatum Paxley for the NXT Women’s North American Championship ended in a casket match on April 21. Following that, it seemed like her next step would be to dive into the SmackDown scene.
Paxley also made her presence felt on Friday Night SmackDown, stepping in to support Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss during Flair’s confrontation with Jade Cargill.
